Dundurn celebrated Canada Day with large gathering of inflatable dinosaur costumes

Dundurn은 공기로 부풀릴 수 있는 공룡 의상을 대규모로 모아 캐나다 데이를 기념했습니다.

 

 

 

With a fun and a different way to celebrate Canada Day, Dundurn aimed to break the current world record of 380 inflatable dinosaurs. With over 1,163 people dressed in inflatable dinosaur costumes, it isn’t official, but the town and out-of-town guests celebrated the win.

재미 있고 색다른 방식으로 캐나다의 날을 기념하고자 Dundurn은 공기를 넣어 부풀리는 공룡 380마리의 현재 세계 기록을 깨는 것을 목표로 삼았습니다. 공룡 의상을 입은 1,163명 이상의 사람들과 함께 마을과 외부 손님들이 승리를 축하했습니다.

 





 

 

DUNDURN — This quaint Saskatchewan town witnessed an extraordinary gathering as people of all ages, donning inflatable-dinosaur costumes, flocked to the streets for the Dino Challenge on Saturday, July 1, Canada Day. This unique costume street party aimed to surpass the current Guinness World Record set by Portland, Oregon, with 380 participants in the previous year.

Undeterred by a drizzle, the jubilant atmosphere persisted as "dinosaurs," accompanied by their families and friends danced and revelled throughout the day on the bustling Main Street, just outside the renowned Big Mur's Tavern. Big Mur’s owner Gary Grady organized the event and hosted the festivities in front of his establishment.

“I thought this would be a fun thing for Canada Day … I started throwing it out there on social media and talking to people about it, promoting it,” said Grady. “We had over 1200 pre-registered people, and we broke the record yesterday at 1163.”

Grady proudly declared that an astounding 1,163 "dinosaurs" participated in the festivities, surpassing Oregon's record threefold. Overwhelmed by the turnout, Grady expressed his gratitude, having initially anticipated breaking the record due to the large number of pre-registrations.

People from all over travelled to support Dundurn’s attempt to break the world record with people coming as far as Arizona, Vancouver Island, Edmonton and Winnipeg as well as the locals and nearby towns.

“It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was,” he said. “A lot of time (was) put into it and a lot of promoting of it.”

Once Grady puts everything together, they will be submitting all the necessary information to the Guiness World Records and wait for confirmation.

“Thanks to all the help in the volunteers and all the people for showing up with such great attitudes,” said Grady. “It was such a fun Canada Day for Dundurn Dinosaur Day.”

Most participants chose to don T-Rex costumes, while some opted for triceratops, brontosauruses, velociraptors, and pterodactyls. Grady emphasized that the event aimed to promote Big Mur’s Tavern and showcase the charming town of Dundurn. The organizers plan to hold the event again next year to surpass their record.

  Tanghulu is a popular street food snack in China. It consists of sweet-tart fresh fruits candy coated with a hardened sugar syrup. Once you try it, you’ll want to devour it again and again. It’s different from the sugar coated traditional candied fruit you may be used to.탕후루는 중국에서 인기 있는 길거리 음식입니다. 굳어진 설탕 시럽으로 코팅한 달콤하고 신맛이 나는 신선한 과일 사탕으로 되어 있습니다. 한번 먹어보면 계속해서 먹고 싶어질 겁니다. 설탕으로 코팅된 전통적인 설탕에 절인 과일과는 다릅니다.   My favorite is Strawberry Tanghulu, made with fresh strawberries, but you can make it with any fruit you like. Conveniently served skewered on a stick, making it a popular hit in Asian street markets. It supposedly made its appearance during the Song dynasty, under Emperor Guangzong's reign.  Many stories speak of its origin. One legend has it that a beloved concubine was too ill to eat anything until a physician suggested dipping dried fruit in caramel. 'Bing' is Chinese for ice.
