Fu Bao, the first giant panda born in Korea through natural breeding, was born on July 20, 2020, in the Panda World at Everland.

국내 최초 자연번식을 통해 태어난 자이언트 판다 푸바오가 2020년 7월 20일 에버랜드 판다월드에서 태어났습니다. 

 



 

 

All giant pandas in the world have been owned by the Chinese government under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) signed in 1973 to regulate cross-border trades of endangered plants and animals. Giant pandas made the endangered species list in 1984.

Designated “vulnerable” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, there are 1,800 giant pandas left in the world.

전 세계의 모든 자이언트 판다는 멸종 위기에 처한 동식물의 국경 간 거래를 규제하기 위해 1973년 서명된 멸종 위기에 처한 야생 동식물종의 국제 거래에 관한 협약(CITES)에 따라 중국 정부가 소유해 왔습니다. 자이언트 판다는 1984년에 멸종 위기종 목록에 등재되었습니다.

China is able to use these giant pandas for diplomatic purposes under this convention, leasing the bears as a token of friendship between China and the partner nation.

The Baos, the only panda family in Korea, first arrived in the country in March 2016 when mom panda Ai Bao and dad panda Le Bao were leased in celebration of Everland’s 40th anniversary.

중국은 이번 협약에 따라 이 자이언트 판다를 외교 목적으로 사용할 수 있으며, 중국과 파트너 국가 간의 우호의 표시로 판다를 임대해주고 있습니다.

국내 유일한 판다 가족은 2016년 3월 에버랜드 40주년을 기념해 엄마 판다 아이바오와 아빠 판다 르바오를 임대하면서 국내에 처음 들어왔습니다.

 



 

 

Fu Bao's mother Ai Bao and father Le Bao arrived in South Korea in March 2016 on a 15-year lease. Their names, Le Bao and Ai Bao, mean pleasant and lovely treasures.

푸바오의 어머니 아이바오와 아버지 르바오는 2016년 3월 15년 임대 계약으로 한국에 도착했습니다. 르바오(Le Bao)와 아이바오(Ai Bao)라는 이름은 즐겁고 사랑스러운 보물을 의미합니다.

 

 

 

This MOU stipulated that should Ai Bao and Le Bao mate and give birth to an offspring, the baby panda must be sent to China before it turns four — when giant pandas become sexually mature — with discussions on the return beginning after the cub turns three.

이번 MOU에는 아이바오와 르바오가 새끼를 낳을 경우 새끼 판다가 4세가 되기 전, 즉 자이언트 판다가 성적으로 성숙하기 전에 중국으로 보내야 하며, 새끼 판다가 3세가 된 이후부터 반환에 대한 논의를 시작하도록 규정했습니다.

 

 

 

Interestingly, Chinese netizens are suggesting that it would be wonderful if Fu Bao remained in Korea. This is because of the affectionate bond between Fu Bao and her zookeeper.

 

The Chinese have seen the touching videos and pictures of Fu Bao's trust in and reliance on her zookeeper Kang Cheol Won, which were widely shared on social media. Many Chinese citizens hope Fu Bao doesn't have to return to China and can continue living happily with her beloved zookeeper.

흥미롭게도 중국 네티즌들은 푸바오가 한국에 남아 있으면 정말 좋겠다는 의견을 내놓고 있습니다. 왜냐하면 푸바오와 사육사 사이의 애정 어린 유대감 때문입니다.

탕후루 Tanghulu 에 대해서
  Tanghulu is a popular street food snack in China. It consists of sweet-tart fresh fruits candy coated with a hardened sugar syrup. Once you try it, you’ll want to devour it again and again. It’s different from the sugar coated traditional candied fruit you may be used to.탕후루는 중국에서 인기 있는 길거리 음식입니다. 굳어진 설탕 시럽으로 코팅한 달콤하고 신맛이 나는 신선한 과일 사탕으로 되어 있습니다. 한번 먹어보면 계속해서 먹고 싶어질 겁니다. 설탕으로 코팅된 전통적인 설탕에 절인 과일과는 다릅니다.   My favorite is Strawberry Tanghulu, made with fresh strawberries, but you can make it with any fruit you like. Conveniently served skewered on a stick, making it a popular hit in Asian street markets. It supposedly made its appearance during the Song dynasty, under Emperor Guangzong's reign.  Many stories speak of its origin. One legend has it that a beloved concubine was too ill to eat anything until a physician suggested dipping dried fruit in caramel. 'Bing' is Chinese for ice.
