분사(Participle) 완벽 정리
분사(Participle)는 동사의 형태지만 형용사 역할을 하는 문법 요소입니다. 분사는 크게 현재분사(Present Participle) 와 과거분사(Past Participle) 로 나뉘며, 다양한 문장에서 활용됩니다.
1. 분사의 종류
분사는 크게 현재분사와 과거분사로 나뉩니다.
현재분사 (Present Participle) 동사 + -ing 진행, 능동의 의미
The running man is fast. (달리는 남자는 빠르다.)
과거분사 (Past Participle) 동사 + -ed (불규칙 동사는 3단 변화) 완료, 수동의 의미
The broken window needs to be fixed. (깨진 창문은 수리해야 한다.)
2. 현재분사 (Present Participle)
현재분사의 역할
형용사 역할 (명사를 꾸밈)
진행형 시제 (be + ~ing)
분사구문(Participle Phrases)
① 형용사 역할 - 현재 진행 또는 능동적인 의미
● 현재분사는 '진행(ongoing)' 또는 '능동(active)'의 의미를 가짐.
✔ 현재분사 + 명사 (능동적인 의미)
The running boy is very fast. (달리는 소년은 매우 빠르다.)
The crying baby needs attention. (울고 있는 아기는 관심이 필요하다.)
The boiling water is very hot. (끓고 있는 물은 매우 뜨겁다.)
✔ 명사 + 현재분사 (후치수식)
The book lying on the table is mine. (테이블 위에 놓여 있는 책은 내 것이다.)
The students studying in the library are very focused. (도서관에서 공부하고 있는 학생들은 집중하고 있다.)
② 진행형 시제 (be + ~ing)
현재분사는 진행형을 만들 때 사용됩니다.

③ 분사구문 (Participle Phrase)
현재분사는 분사구문으로도 사용됩니다.

She entered the room smiling. (그녀는 미소를 지으며 방에 들어왔다.)
He walked down the street listening to music. (그는 음악을 들으면서 길을 걸었다.)
✔ 이유(원인)
Feeling sick, he didn’t go to school. (아팠기 때문에 그는 학교에 가지 않았다.)
Not knowing the answer, I didn’t say anything. (답을 몰랐기 때문에 나는 아무 말도 하지 않았다.)
✔ 조건
Turning left, you will see the post office. (왼쪽으로 돌면 우체국이 보일 것이다.)
✔ 연속된 동작
He opened the door, holding a cup of coffee. (그는 커피를 들고 문을 열었다.)
3. 과거분사 (Past Participle)
과거분사의 역할
형용사 역할 (명사를 꾸밈)
완료형 시제 (have + 과거분사)
수동태 (be + 과거분사)

① 형용사 역할 - 완료된 상태 또는 수동의 의미
● 과거분사는 '완료(completed)' 또는 '수동(passive)'의 의미를 가짐.

A written report is required. (작성된 보고서가 필요하다.)

The house built last year is very modern. (작년에 지어진 그 집은 매우 현대적이다.)
The man injured in the accident was taken to the hospital. (사고로 부상당한 남자는 병원으로 옮겨졌다.)
② 완료형 시제 (have + 과거분사)
과거분사는 완료 시제를 만들 때 사용됩니다.

분사 형태 의미 예문
