I am a soil.  I am in the hills and in the valleys, the farms, the orchards. 

Without me, humans could not exist, but you treat me like dirt.

Do you realize that I am just a thin skin on this planet?

And that I’m actually alive.  Full of organisms that grow your food.

But, I am broken, aching, overused, sick because of you.

You have withered me away to less than half of what I used to be just over 100 years ago.

Are you paying attention?

I am turning to dust. So, maybe you could treat me with a little respect.

I suppose you still want to eat, right?

    Hi, I`m Carl Azuz, first question we`re exploring today on CNN 10.  Is China`s government holding masses of Chinese Muslims in concentration camps? That`s what a U.S. defense official recently announced in a news briefing. The Uyghurs are a mostly Muslim ethnic group and millions of them live in China. Historically they have not had a great relationship with the Chinese government and in recent years the Chinese government has detained large numbers of Uyghurs, the U.S. says as many as 3 million of them in massive camps. Uyghurs who`ve been released from these camps say they`re like prisons aimed at getting rid of Uyghur culture and religion and instilling it with propaganda from China`s communist government.  That government has repeatedly denied holding large amounts of Uyghur citizens. China says it has set up what it calls training centers that are necessary to prevent terrorism. And a Chinese government run newspaper says the nation`s Shin Jong region where many Uyghurs live has been quote "shielded from the flow of international terrorism" like the attack that occurred recently in Sri Lanka. A Chinese government official suggested that the U.S. abandon bias and quote "stop interfering in China`s domestic affairs." But an investigation by the Guardian, a British newspaper, suggested that China has destroyed dozens of mosques since 2016 and while China`s government officially recognizes five religions including Islam, that government is also officially atheist.  And according to the Council on Foreign Relations, an American non-profit research group, China`s government exercises control over religion. Christian pastors for example have to undergo training to make sure they`re sermons are adapted to communist party guidelines. Reporting on the struggles of Uyghurs has challenges all its own. China doesn`t have the same freedom of the press as America does so American reporters there have found plenty of obstacles in their investigations.

mother nature
   Some call me nature others ca me mother nature. I’ve been here for over 4.5 billion years 22.500 times longer than you. I don’t really need people, but people need me.Yes, your future depends on me.  What’ the worst thing about being young?Well, you got lots of homework.  It’s also pretty.   I have loved beauty and the best since I was about 4 years old. Maybe came out the year I was born in 1990 and I just fell in love with Belle.  I am coral. Some people think that I’m just a rock. When in fact. I’m the largest thing alive on this planet. I’m so big. I can be seen from space. But for how long? I grow for almost 250 million years. And, humans came along and now 1/5 of me is gone. Sure, I live at the bottom of the sea and you might not see me that often, but you do need me. Do you realize that ¼ of all marine life depends on me? I am the nursery of the sea. Little fish depends on me for food, and to hide form the big fish.  That’s tight. You do. How can we keep plastic out of our ocean
  8 million metric ton of plastic trash enters the sea from land every year the equivalent of five plastic bags filled with trash for every foot of coastline in the world across our oceans.  Look up! There I am. I am the sky. I am a warm and protective blanket wrapped around everyone on earth. I can bring clouds, rain, and wind. I can be an ice storm. Without me, you’d fry. Every day I am the breath you take me. Yet, you are making me sick I am congested, off balanced, polluted. You see, I am more delicate than you think. It took millions of years to get it just right. My perfect mix of gasses, temperature and weather that you enjoy. But now your cars, your factories and dust. They have pushed me past the limit. And you wonder why my typhoons and tornadoes are more intense, more frequent. I’ve become unpredictable, less rain here, a lot more rain there. Hotter summers. Colder winters.   A German tourist says he illegally scaled Egypt’s Great Pyramid of Giza in broad daylight and lived to tell the tale armed with a Go Pro and a strong will. 18- year old Andre Sishelski a journey to Cairo to Giza to climb nearly 500 feet to the top of the pyramid.Climbing the oldest and largest pyramid comes at a step cost a possible 3- year jail sentence if convicted. Andre said in an interview he knew the risks going in but decided the view from the top would make it all worth it. He was about halfway up the ancient structure. Andre was spotted by Egyptian police but it didn’t stop him from finishing his climb and taking in the incredible view. Although it took him 8 minutes to reach the top, it took him 20 minutes to safely descent when he was back on the ground. He was taken to police custody.
